MGM unscripted TV co-head Brian Edwards set to depart, Poznick continues

Brian Edwards, the co-head of MGM alternative television, is set to exit the Amazon-owned company next month.

The departure comes around three months after he was promoted to jointly lead MGM’s unscripted TV business alongside Barry Poznick, who will now lead the division on his own.

Poznick will report to Chris Brearton, who serves as VP of corporate strategy for Amazon’s Prime Video Studios, MGM+ and MGM Alternative.

The news was first reported by Deadline and subsequently confirmed to C21 by an MGM rep.

The shake-up comes during a period of upheaval at MGM following its takeover by Amazon, which was completed last year.

In November, Mark Burnett, chairman of MGM Worldwide Television, exited the company and returned to independent production, while continuing to oversee select projects that he was already involved with.

Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke was given full oversight of MGM’s film and TV studio operations.

On the unscripted side, MGM’s credits include Shark Tank, Survivor, The Voice and Ugliest House in America.
