Mercury Filmworks, Turnip + Duck coproducing kids’ toon Bunny McBee

Bunny McBee has been created by Andy Coyle

ANNECY: Canadian animation studio Mercury Filmworks (The Lion Guard) and Dublin-based Turnip + Duck (Maddie + Triggs) are to coproduce an animated children’s series called Bunny McBee.

The collaboration was finalised and announced today at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France.

Bunny McBee (52×5’) is a 2D preschool series created by Andy Coyle (Hilda, Atomic Puppet). Following the adventures of a curious bumblebee and his worm best friend, the show draws inspiration from Coyle’s childhood in the great outdoors of Nova Scotia

The copro partners said the toon “will inspire children to love and respect nature and their place in it.”

Colm Tobin, MD of Turnip + Duck, added: “Andy has created a truly imaginative preschool series that pays homage to his childhood and will inspire children everywhere to use their imagination and creativity to engage with and celebrate the environment.”
