MENA streamer StarzPlay teams up with Discovery to Say Yes to the Dress

Say Yes to the Dress Arabia is shot in Dubai and features brides from varied cultural backgrounds

Middle East and North Africa streaming service StarzPlay is gearing up to launch the first Middle Eastern version of Say Yes to the Dress, in partnership with Discovery.

Say Yes to the Dress Arabia, which gives brides from the region a once-in-lifetime opportunity to find their perfect wedding dress, will be made available to stream from February 11 on StarzPlay, with two episodes released each week.

The launch marks the 25th local spin-off of the series and will feature 20 brides from various cultural backgrounds, ranging in age from 23 to 50, all in search for their dream wedding dress.

The show is shot at Hazar Haute Couture in Dubai, which houses a collection of bridal dresses accommodating budgets ranging from US$615 to US$14,000.

The host is Lebanese celebrity stylist Khalil Zein, who said: “The process of helping the brides, from different backgrounds, was a fruitful challenge.”

Khaled Benchouche, senior VP of programming and acquisitions at StarzPlay, said: “The addition of Say Yes to the Dress Arabia to our content portfolio reflects StarzPlay’s commitment to bringing quality content to our local audience.”

The original Say Yes to the Dress series launched on lifestyle network TLC in the US in 2007 and has spawned numerous spin-offs as well as international versions.

Anouska Widdess, Discovery Communications’ senior director of TLC and channel operations, added: “TLC’s Say Yes to The Dress is one of Discovery’s most beloved global franchises, having gained a cult following worldwide. We are proud to be partnering with StarzPlay to finally bring the region its own edition, especially since MENA is famous for having some of the most glamorous weddings and brides.”
