Santamaría has led Boomerang TV’s scripted division for the past two years. Recent projects produced under his leadership include legal drama Perdiendo el juicio and melodrama Entre tierras for Atresplayer. Upcoming series include comedy-drama La Suerte for Disney+.

Boomerang TV said Santamaría’s appointment “represents a strategic step to boost the company’s growth and address new challenges in an increasingly competitive audiovisual landscape.”

Santamaría’s appointment comes as Boomerang TV launches new scripted label Cut One. The company said the brand “responds to an ambitious expansion strategy aimed at consolidating Boomerang TV’s position across all scripted genres and establishing itself as one of the most comprehensive and competitive production companies in the Spanish audiovisual sector.”

Cut One will be led by Rafael Taboada, who will diversify the content offering and expand the company’s reach to new audiences and platforms. Taboada previously worked as an exec producer at Movistar+ and Amazon MGM Studios.

Taboada said Cut One’s goal is to “explore new formats and narratives that complement Boomerang TV’s offering as a leading production company in Spain. We want to be a creative laboratory that allows us to diversify content, innovate and connect with new audiences through fresh and distinctive offerings.”

Boomerang TV’s CEO Jaime Ondarza said: “The appointment of Luis Santamaría represents a decisive step in strengthening Boomerang TV’s leadership. His experience and strategic vision will be key to addressing the industry’s challenges and consolidating our growth. The creation of Cut One, under the leadership of Rafael Taboada, further reinforces our commitment to innovation and content diversification.”
