Mediapro appoints Italian boss

Spanish media giant Mediapro has transferred the head of its operations in Colombia to a role managing its activities in Italy.

Eugeni Sallent has been named head of Mediapro Italy, working out of its offices in Rome and Milan, with Mauricio Correa taking over as head of group operations in Colombia.

Sallent began his professional career in Catalunya Ràdio and TV3 and directed the launch of RAC 1.

During his time at Mediapro in Colombia, Sallent worked on series such as Yo Soy Franky and N00bees with Viacom International Studios for Nickelodeon Latin America.

Correa, MD of rights in Latin America for Mediapro, has previously held roles including CEO of Win Sports and VP and programming director of Sky Latin America.

Mediapro recently announced it is spending €200m (US$224m) to bolster its international operations and expand its global production slate as part of its Mediapro Studio initiative.

The Barcelona-based studio division, made up of 10 creative offices around the world, will use the money to strengthen its content output across all genres, including drama.

Series, films, short formats and documentaries will all receive investment through the studio operation, which has bases in Italy, Portugal, the UK, Finland, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, the US and the Middle East.

Mediapro Studio already produces around 5,000 hours of programming, including formats such as El Intermedio and Los Reyes de la Comedia for Netflix and Amazon doc All or Nothing: Manchester City.
