McDonald signs two-year ITV contract

NEWS BRIEF: Veteran UK news anchor Sir Trevor McDonald has signed a two-year deal with ITV that will extend production of Tonight With Trevor McDonald as well as include new documentary and interview series.

The new contract comes into force when McDonald steps down as anchor of ITV’s News at 10.30. The new, enhanced role sees Tonight With Trevor McDonald re-commissioned for a further 12 months.

There is also a new doc series as well as an interview show in the pipeline, although ITV could not confirm details about these at the time of going to press. McDonald will also continue to host the National Television Awards for the network.
