Maverick TV USA appoints new development head to accelerate slate expansion

All3Media-backed LA production company Maverick TV USA has named Helga Eike as its new head of development.

Helga Eike

Eike, who joins the company from Westbrook Studios-owned Red Table Talk Productions, will be responsible for expanding the company’s slate, including food competition shows and character-led docuseries.

She will be based in LA and work with Maverick TV USA’s CEO Simon Knight, who moved to LA earlier this year to focus on expanding the company’s US business.

New additions to Maverick TV USA’s slate include a docuseries starring multiple NBA champion and former LA Lakers basketball player Derek Fisher, his wife and reality TV star Gloria Govan and their extended family.

Filming is currently underway on the series, which follows the couple as they navigate co-parenting in the public eye, demanding teenagers, high-profile exes and Fisher’s post-basketball career. The company said a pilot presentation will be taken out to networks in the coming weeks.

Other upcoming shows from Maverick TV USA include season two of American Barbeque Showdown, which will launch soon on Netflix.

“Helga’s creative instincts and leadership fit perfectly with Maverick’s mission to produce inspiring and uplifting content for our network partners,” said Knight. “She joins us as we look to build on our unscripted successes in the US and accelerate the expansion of our slate.”

Eike added: “My first love is unscripted development, and I am proud to be taking this exciting role at Maverick TV USA and joining the All3Media family.

“In our ever-changing business, the importance of established production partners with a history of game-changing hits will only continue to grow, and I can’t wait to work with Simon and the Maverick team in discovering and developing break-through new shows, ideas and talent.”

While at Red Table Talk Productions, Eike worked on projects such as Facebook Watch original series Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett Smith and its spin-off The Estefans.

Prior to that she was the president of Authentic Entertainment, where she worked on shows including Trading Spaces (TLC), Listing Impossible (CNBC), Flipping Out (Bravo), Toddlers & Tiaras (TLC), Here Comes Honey Boo Boo (TLC), The Best Thing I Ever Ate (Food Network) and Ace of Cakes (Food Network).
