Marlo Miazga exiting Canadian producer and distributor Sphere Media

Canadian producer/distributor Sphere Media has announced the departure of Marlo Miazga, president and executive producer at its unscripted and kids and family divisions.

Marlo Miazga

Miazga, who joined Sphere Media in 2020 following its acquisition of Bristow Global Media (BGM), has worked as an editor, series producer, creator and executive producer across nearly every genre of television spanning her 30-year career.

Miazga served as head of content and production and then CEO at BGM, which was acquired by BGM from the defunct Kew Media, before becoming president of unscripted and documentaries at Sphere Media, formerly known as Go Films.

Miazga then gained oversight of the company’s fledgling kids and family division following Sphere Animation president Jacques Bilodeau retirement in 2023.

This rejig saw the Montreal-headquartered company merge its English-language children’s factual, scripted and animation units under a single division, Sphere Kids and Family.

Following Miazga’s departure, the kids and family division will be overseen by Judith Beauchemin, executive VP of operations, while Sphere Media’s senior VP of development and content, Kim Bondi, has been tapped to lead its unscripted division.

Bruno Dube, CEO of Sphere Media said: “I would like to thank Marlo for her time with us over the past five years as president of English unscripted, documentaries, and kids and family.

“Marlo was part of the team during a period of significant industry shifts and evolving business priorities. We are grateful for her presence and collaboration during this time of change. As we move forward with a renewed focus on growth and realignment, I want to take a moment to recognise her years of service and collaboration. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours.”

Miazga said: “I’m incredibly proud of what we have accomplished here at Sphere Media since our acquisition in 2020. Many significant challenges were met both personally and professionally. Gratefully, what this has created in me is resilience. I will always be grateful to Sphere for giving me a home to grow. So, whilst I am sad to close this chapter, indisputably, my standout success is the powerful, creative and hugely loved team that I’m leaving in charge.”

Sphere Media has offices in Montréal and Toronto, Quebec City and London. The company invested in global distributor Abacus along with Bell Media to create Sphere Abacus, the commercial arm that now represents its television series, feature films, documentaries, animation and kids’ shows.
