Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat to work with Disney+, Star+ in Lat Am

Star+’s Limbo… hasta que lo decida debuts in early 2022

Creative duo Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat have signed an agreement with The Walt Disney Company Latin America to develop content exclusively for Disney+ and local streamer Star+.

The pair, responsible for film successes such as El Ciudadano Ilustre (The Illustrious Citizen), will work in multiple genres and with different production companies in the region to shape new series and films.

The duo is working with production companies including Pampa Films/Gloriamundi Producciones, Pegsa, Kapow, Estudios Teleméxico and Moovie Brasil.

Next year Cohn and Duprat will premiere their film Competencia Oficial (Official Competition), produced by The Mediapro Studio and starring Penélope Cruz, Antonio Banderas and Óscar Martínes.

Fernando Barbosa, general manager of media networks at The Walt Disney Company Latin America, said: “The agreement that Disney has signed with Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat is an example of the union of forces that the company is doing with outstanding talent in the region.

“Mariano and Gastón are a creative powerhouse , whose films and series have captivated Latin American audiences for several years. We are very excited and eager to share with our subscribers the content we are developing together for Star+ and Disney+.”

In a statement, Cohn and Duprat said: “We are happy to work with a company of the scope and prestige of The Walt Disney Company, a company that stands out in what we like to do most: imagine stories.”

Cohn and Duprat are working on more than 20 titles with Disney Lat Am.

In Argentina, Cohn and Duprat have already worked for Star+ on series such as Limbo… hasta que lo decida (Limbo, Until You Decide), which will premiere in early 2022. It stars Spanish actor Clara Lago and Argentinian actors Mike Amigorena, Esteban Pérez, Enrique Piñeyro, Michel Noher and Andrea Frigerio.

Their other shows include Terapia Alternativa (Alternative Therapy), now available on Star +, starring Carla Peterson, Benjamín Vicuña and Eugenia Suárez; El encargado (The manager), starring Guillermo Francella; and Nada, starring Luis Brandoni.

In Mexico , the duo created black comedy El galán for Star+; La TV cambió, él no (TV changed, he didn’t), starring Humberto Zurita; thriller Horario estelar (Primetime), executive produced by Juan Pablo Medina and starring Óscar Jaenada, Dominika Paleta and Maya Zapata; and the series El rey de los machos (The King of Males, working title).

Finally, in Brazil, Cohn and Duprat created the series Lo que sea, cuando sea (Whatever, When It Is) and La frontera interior (The Interior Border), both working titles.

The filmmakers’ projects for Disney+ include three live-action fiction series that address topics of special interest to children and young people in Latin America: Fuego amigo, Martinha and Taller de emociones (Emotions Workshop), all working titles.
