Manga adaptation Drops of God leads Legendary Entertainment’s Mipcom line-up

Drops of God

Drops of God, a live-action adaptation of the manga series of the same name, is headlining US-based Legendary Entertainment’s scripted slate for Mipcom alongside a pair of other dramas.

Commissioned by pubcaster France Télévisions and streaming service Hulu Japan, the story finds the world of gastronomy and fine wines in mourning as Alexandre Léger, creator of the famous Léger Wine Guide, has just passed away at his home in Tokyo.

When his daughter flies to Tokyo and Léger’s will is read, she discovers that her father has left her an extraordinary wine collection – but to claim the inheritance, she must compete with a brilliant young oenologist whom her father took under his wing. It is produced by Legendary Television and Dynamic Television.

Also on Legendary’s Mipcom slate is Spanish-language series You Would Do It Too, which was picked up exclusively by Disney+ in Spain earlier this year.

Produced by Legendary Television and Spanish prodco ESPotlight Media, the show follows two police officers who suspect that a group of witnesses might not be telling the truth in the aftermath of a deadly armed robbery.

The company is also coming to Mipcom with Portugal-Spain coproduction Vanda. The project is inspired by the true story of Dulce Caroço, a hair stylist living in Lisbon who turned to crime in order to raise her two children in the midst of the 2008 global financial crisis.

Also on the sales slate is sci-fi drama Debris from creator JH Wyman (Almost Human); Colony, created by Carlton Cuse (Jack Ryan, Lost) and Ryan Condal (House of the Dragon); and The Looming Tower, based on Lawrence Wright’s non-fiction book and starring Jeff Daniels and Peter Sarsgaard.
