Madd Entertainment introduces Turkish broadcaster Show TV’s Family to Cannes
Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ and Serenay Sarıkaya star in The Family
MIPTV: Istanbul-based Madd Entertainment is in Cannes with international rights to Turkish broadcaster Show TV’s hit drama The Family, a local series that has had “the strongest premiere of 2023,” according to the distributor.
The 75×45’ series stars Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ (Crash, Brave & Beautiful, Forbidden Love, Kuzey Güney, Gümüş) and debuted on Show TV in March. It continues to earn top ratings in the advertiser-friendly AB and ABC1+20 target groups, said Madd.
The Family airs on Tuesday nights on Show TV and “leads all series in all demographic groups,” added Madd, with an average rating of 8.58 and a 19.80% share.
The show marks the return of Tatlıtuğ to Turkish TV screens and features him as a notorious crime lord who must manage Istanbul’s underworld as well as his strange family and a new psychologist girlfriend, played by Serenay Sarıkaya (Phi, Medcezir).
Also starring are Turkish actors Nur Sürer (Chrysalis), Nejat İşler (Revenge), Canan Ergüder (The Agency), Yüsra Geyik (Chrysalis), Levent Ülgen (Our Father) and Ushan Çakır (Stiletto Vendetta).
Produced by Istanbul prodco Ay Yapim, the series is helmed by veteran director Ahmet Katıksız (My Son, Flames of Fate, One Love).
Madd is a joint venture between Ay Yapim and fellow prodco Medyapım that launched in 2018 and handles international sales of the two companies’ content.
Turkish drama is hot in Cannes this week as distributors gather to shop their wares. C21 has already reported news of a new Turkish streamer launching this year and also major deals for Golden Boy, the latest Turkish drama to go global.
Madd is part of a large Turkish presence at MipTV, with public broadcaster TRT, Acun Medya, Calinos Entertainment, Global Agency, Inter Medya, Mistco and Kanal D International also here, plus the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce.
