Love Nature puts out Oz bushfires special

After the Wildfires looks at the recovery a year on from the bushfires

Broadcasters in Australia and Canada are on aboard a special from Blue Ant Media-owned natural history channel Love Nature that charts the aftermath of 2019’s tragic bushfire season down under.

After the Wildfires (1×60′), produced by Sydney-based Northern Pictures for Love Nature’s linear and streaming platforms, looks at Australia’s recovery effort a year after the bushfires.

Blue Ant International is overseeing the licensing of the series, which will be available at Mipcom Online+ next month and is coproduced with ABC in Australia and CBC in Canada.

Premiering this November, the special centres on the animals that struggled to survive the disaster and the people who gave their all to save them.

It includes dramatic footage of the fires as they spread across 20 million acres of Australian land, alongside first-hand stories of the ongoing recovery efforts.

Blue Ant International will also oversee pre-sales and licensing exclusively outside of the commissioning territories.

“After The Wildfires is an incredibly timely and compelling look at just how fragile our natural world is,” said Carlyn Staudt, global general manager at Love Nature, which is a joint venture between Blue Ant Media and Smithsonian Networks.

“Blue Ant International has made a considerable investment in this important programme because it shines a light on the long-term impact of the Australian fires and takes audiences beyond the news accounts that the entire world watched in 2019,” said Ludo Dufour, senior VP, international coproductions and sales at Blue Ant International.

It is executive produced by Karina Holden for Northern Pictures and by James Manfull on behalf of Love Nature.
