Benedict initially joined UFA Fiction as a freelance producer before becoming a permanent producer in 2010 and then part of the management team in 2016, alongside Markus Brunnemann and Sebastian Werninger.

The list of productions created during Benedict’s time with the company ranges from Dutschke, the Scientology film Bis nichts mehr bleibt and the Donna Leon series to Unsere Mütter – Unsere Väter.

He will join European production group Leonine Studios on November 1 as part of the management team at W&B Television, which will continue to include Oliver Vogel, Max Wiedemann and Quirin Berg.

Berg, chief production and chief creative officer at Leonine Studios, said: “Benjamin, Max and I share a very collegial, friendly dialogue and we have always looked with the utmost respect on Benjamin’s work as a producer and manager.

“His close partnership with many of the best creatives, his focus on projects with special quality, the range of his topics and successes is extraordinary and makes him an absolutely outstanding head of our film and series world. It is our great honour and pleasure to now be able to tackle the enormous opportunities of our time together.”

Nico Hofmann, CEO of UFA, paid tribute to Benedict, saying: ” Working with Benjamin has been an enrichment since the first minute we met at the great producer Katharina Trebitsch in Hamburg. Life paths change, they have to change. I wish Benjamin all the best, curiosity and openness from the bottom of my heart.”
