Long-serving Discovery exec Espen Skoland exits company following Warner merger

The head of Discovery’s Norwegian office, Espen Skoland, is leaving the company in the wake of its merger with WarnerMedia.

Skoland has spent 12 years with Discovery in various management positions both in Norway and internationally.

As well as stepping down as head of the Norwegian office, Skoland is leaving his position as editor-in-chief of Warner Bros Discovery (WBD)-owned network TVNorge. His previous roles include communications director for Discovery in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

“After talks with Warner Bros Discovery about possible roles in the company, we have concluded that the time has come to part company,” Espen Skoland told Kampanje.com.

Skoland’s exit is just one of several major changes following the formation of WBD earlier this year, including the appointment of former WarnerMedia exec Christina Sulebakk as its general manager for the Nordics in July.

“After the merger of Warner Media and Discovery, and with it the creation of a new Nordic structure for the company, Espen Skoland has chosen to pursue new challenges,” Sulebakk said. “His contribution to the organisation has been significant, and I want to thank him for his efforts and wish him the best of luck going forward.”

It is unclear when Skoland is leaving the company and who will take over as WBD’s new Norwegian CEO.
