Lip Sync Battle on Spike

Comedy Central Latin America has partnered with a Mexican broadcaster to coproduce a local version of US cablenet Spike’s Lip Sync Battle.

Lip Sync Mexico (13×60′) is currently in pre-production and will air on TV Azteca in Mexico and Comedy Central Latin America later this year.

The format is distributed by Viacom International Media Networks and sees two celebrities mime along to well-known pop and rock hits per battle.

It quickly became one of Spike’s most successful programmes after launching in the US last year, having originated as a segment on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show.

The Latin American version will differ from the original by allowing three celebrities to take to the stage in each episode to demonstrate their lip-syncing abilities in front of a live audience.

The deal brings the total number of locally adapted formats of the format to 12, including in the UK, China and Canada.
