Agapy Kapouranis takes up the newly created role of exec VP of SVoD and will be based in Santa Monica. She will report to Lawrence Szabo, Lionsgate’s exec VP of North American TV and SVoD sales, and Peter Iacono, president of international television and digital distribution.

Kapouranis will lead the licensing of content to SVoD platforms throughout the international market, evaluating global and market-by-market sales strategies while continuing to oversee licensing of content in Canada.

Lionsgate’s slate includes feature films and almost 80 TV shows on 40 US networks. It recently bolstered its international library through a deal with New Regency Pictures, adding titles including The Revenant, The Big Short and Gone Girl.

Jim Packer, Lionsgate’s president of worldwide television and digital distribution, said Kapouranis “is part of an international distribution team of experienced, digitally fluent and forward-thinking executives who position us to evolve with our markets and capitalise on tremendous opportunities in the SVoD and digital space around the world.”

Kapouranis joined Lionsgate in 2011 and was most recently senior VP of television and digital distribution, having previously worked at MGM Studios.
