Lifetime greenlights biopic on child beauty pageant contestant Honey Boo Boo

NEWS BRIEF: Lifetime in the US has greenlit a biopic on former child beauty pageant contestant Alana Thompson, otherwise known as Honey Boo Boo, who hit the spotlight on 2000s show Toddlers & Tiaras when she was six years old.

Premiering next month, I Was Honey Boo Boo offers a glimpse into what happened behind the scenes during Thompson’s pageant days. Now in college, Thompson, who narrates the film, sheds light on the darker side of stardom as she attempts to overcome her childhood traumas. Cineflix Productions, ITV America’s Thinkfactory Media and GroupM Motion Entertainment produce. Exec producers include Cineflix’s president and head of content JC Mills.
