Liz Gateley takes up the new role of exec VP and head of programming for Lifetime and will oversee scripted and unscripted development and feature films, reporting to Rob Sharenow, A+E’s recently promoted exec VP and general manager.

Gateley began her career at Lifetime on its development team and was most recently working at DiGa, the Teen Wolf producer she launched with MTV programming boss Tony DiSanto in 2011 and which was bought by ITV Studios last year.

Gateley had worked under DiSanto at MTV as senior VP of series development and was behind shows including Teen Mom, 16 & Pregnant and Laguna Beach.

Sharenow said Gateley was “a multi-skilled executive who has proven to have an uncanny ability to hone in on the zeitgeist and help define popular culture.”

A+E recently appointed Elaine Frontain Bryant as head of programming for flagship network A&E, while Paul Cabana was moved from H2 to head up programming at History.
