Lee commits to new ABC deal

Paul Lee, president of ABC Entertainment Group, has signed a new multi-year contract to remain at the top of The Walt Disney Company’s broadcast network and production arm.

The deal means Lee will continue to oversee all creative and business operations for ABC Studios as well as all development, programming, marketing and scheduling operations for ABC Entertainment.

Since taking the position in July 2010, the British exec has brought in new series such as Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, Super Fun Night, The Goldbergs, Mixology and Trophy Wife.

The news follows Lee missing out on the chance to succeed Anne Sweeny, co-chairman of Disney Media Networks and president of Disney/ABC Television Group, to Ben Sherwood, president of Disney’s ABC News.

Sweeney announced her surprise resignation last month and is set to leave in January 2015.
