Label1 rejigs top management team

UK indie Label1 has rejigged its senior management team with the appointment of two joint CEOs, a chief operating officer (COO) and a head of development.

Alex Burke

Label1 founders Lorraine Charker-Phillips and Simon Dickson are taking on the roles of joint CEOs, while head of production Jo Taylor has been promoted to COO.

Senior development producer Alex Burke has been promoted to head of development, having joined the company in 2019 from Studio Lambert where she was part of the team that created BBC2’s Race Across The World.

Reporting to Charker-Phillips and Dickson, Burke will oversee the company’s development pipeline and growth in the non-scripted arena, focusing on both the terrestrial and SVoD market.

Label1, producer of Channel 4 dating show Five Guys a Week, said it will be increasing the size of its development team to grow its output in both documentaries and factual entertainment.

Since Burke’s arrival, Label1 has expanded its factual slate with the commissioning of ITV’s Manchester Bomber: Fifth Anniversary and Channel 4’s Class of 2021 (working title).

Charker-Phillips said: “Alex is an exceptional talent who constantly impresses us with her high quality of work and her ability to lead us into new creative spaces.”

Dickson said: “Jo is just the wisest partner you could possibly have. With us from the very start of Label1, her promotion to COO reflects the cool, calm way in which she has steered us through the choppy Covid-y waters of the last 18 months.”
