La Cometa TV’s Eduardo Blanco to head entertainment and current affairs at Mediaset España

Eduardo Blanco, previously general director of Spanish prodco La Cometa TV, has been named director of entertainment and current affairs at Mediaset España, a position he will share with Eduardo Escorial.

Blanco takes up his new role on June 9, tasked with strengthening the group’s content division and overseeing its current affairs and entertainment programming strategy.

He will report to Jaime Guerra, director of the group’s content production division, which is part of the General Directorate of Television & Digital, led by Alberto Carullo.

Blanco joins Mediaset with nearly 25 years of experience in the creation, development, direction and executive production of a wide range of audiovisual formats.

In addition to his role at La Cometa TV, which he joined in 2023, he has worked at companies such as Etiqueta Azul Producciones, Producciones Mandarina and 60dB Entertainment.

He served as programme director at Disney Channel Spain and was director and executive producer of programmes such as Está Pasando and El Buscador, plus documentaries El Rey and Miguel Ángel Blanco: el Día que me Mataron on Telecinco; Las Mañanas de Cuatro and Te Vas a Enterar on Cuatro; and Juntos, Buenos Días, Madrid, Telenoticias; various specials on Telemadrid; and Hay que Verlo and Buenas Tardes, Canarias for Radio Televisión Canaria.

In his most recent role at La Cometa TV, he led current affairs and entertainment formats for RTVE and regional broadcasters in the Basque Country, Canary Islands, Valencia and Castilla-La Mancha.

Mediaset España is undergoing a strategic transformation in its content division following the appointment of Alberto Carullo as general director of content in January.
