Orphan Black: Echoes, which is set in the same world as the original Canadian sci-fi hit, will debut on AMC+ and AMC in 2023. It is produced and distributed by Toronto-headquartered studio Boat Rocker.

For Ritter, the series represents her return to AMC Networks, where she landed her first TV major role as Jane Margolis in Breaking Bad.

She will also star in upcoming HBO Max series Love and Death, written by David E Kelley, and recently starred in Netflix movie Nightbooks. In addition, she directed and executive produced supernatural series The Girl in the Woods for Peacock.

Set in the near future, Orphan Black: Echoes follows a group of women as they weave their way into each other’s lives and unravel the mystery of their identities. Ritter will play Lucy, a woman with an unimaginable origin story who tries to find her place in the world.

The new iteration of the property is created, written and executive produced by Anna Fishko (Pieces of Her, The Society, Fear the Walking Dead), who is also showrunner.

John Fawcett, who co-created the original series and directed 17 episodes across its five seasons, will serve as director and executive producer. David Fortier, Ivan Schneeberg, Katie O’Connell Marsh, Nick Nantell and Kerry Appleyard will also executive produce for Boat Rocker.

Boat Rocker manages the Orphan Black global franchise, including content distribution and consumer products.
