Knowles to go Wild in backyards for BBC1

DIY SOS presenter Nick Knowles is set to return to BBC1, making over urban spaces in a new series called Wild About Your Garden.

The series (6×30′) was commissioned as part of the Beeb’s five-year BBC Breathing Spaces campaign, a partnership with a range of wildlife and conservation organisations aimed at creating green spaces in communities across the UK and encouraging audiences to do their part for nature.

In each episode of Wild About Your Garden, Knowles, together with The One Show’s wildlife reporter Ellie Harrison and garden designer Chris Beardshaw, will visit a different town or city in the UK and go about transforming back gardens into retreats for both humans and wildlife in the space of a week.

“This is a great show for both gardeners and non-gardeners,” said Knowles. “It will give us a chance to rescue wildlife even in urban centres before it’s too late.”

The show’s executive producer, Gary Hunter, said: “Nick and the team show that it’s possible to design gardens that not only look great, but are havens for wildlife and, together with the BBC’s Breathing Spaces campaign, just maybe they can inspire all of us to green up and go wild.”
