Kiwis tuck in to Oz food format

New Zealand public broadcaster TVNZ has picked up the rights to produce a local version of Australian format My Kitchen Rules for its channel TV2 later this year.

TVNZ acquired the format rights to the Seven Network cooking competition from Endemol. Imagination Entertainment is onboard to produce.

The original version aired on TVNZ for four seasons and was the number one primetime series on Australian TV from 2010 to 2013, according to Endemol.

Russia, Serbia, the UK and the US have also adapted the show.

The deal was brokered by Andrew Shaw, TVNZ’s general manager of commissioning, production and acquisitions, and Kirsten Cargill, Endemol Worldwide Distribution’s sales director for Australia and New Zealand.
