Kitchen Factory Productions to serve up French version of Netflix food format Culinary Class Wars

Paris-based prodco Kitchen Factory Productions (KFP) has won a competitive tender to adapt hit Netflix Korean food format Culinary Class Wars for French audiences.

Matthieu Jean-Toscani

KFP, owned by chef Cyril Lignac and Matthieu Jean-Toscani (Story Plus Group), beat off competition from several other major Gallic and international studios to secure the production rights.

The original reality competition series, produced by South Korea’s Studio Slam, premiered last year on Netflix Korea. It saw 100 elite chefs divided into two classes: white spoons (veterans) and black spoons (newcomers), competing for a big cash prize by creating delicious dishes. A second season is due this year.

KFP was launched in 2008 and specialises in making food-themed formats for Gallic network M6, such as The Great British Bake Off adaptation Le Meilleur Patissier, Touse en Cuisine avec Cyril Lignac, and the forthcoming Ma Recette est la Meilleure de France.

The French version of Culinary Class Wars will be produced under the working title, Le Choc des toques.
