Kids’ classic Yo Gabba Gabba! to be rebooted by AppleTV+ this summer

The series will be hosted by new character Kammy Kam, played by Kamryn Smith

US streamer Apple TV+ has announced new kids series Yo Gabba GabbaLand!, inspired by classic Nickelodeon children’s musical TV series, Yo Gabba Gabba!

Produced in partnership with Canada’s WildBrain and Yo Gabba Gabba LLC, the co-owners of the brand, it will premiere on August 9.

The original Yo Gabba Gabba! was created by Christian Jacobs and Scott Schultz and ran for four seasons between 2007 and 2015.

It followed five costumed toys that came to life and enjoyed adventures with their friend DJ Lance Rock, played by Lance Robertson.

Apple TV said that its 10-episode revival “expands the universe” and will be hosted by new character Kammy Kam, played by Kamryn Smith (Come Dance with Me). Kam will be joined by returning characters Brobee, Foofa, Muno, Toodee and Plex, alongside special musical guests.

Yo Gabba GabbaLand is created by Jacobs and Schultz, who also serve as executive producers alongside Wildbrain president and CEO Josh Scherba and chief content officer Stephanie Betts.

Tara Sorensen, head of children’s programming for Apple TV+, said: “It has brought everyone at Apple so much joy to reimagine this beloved children’s series in the most vibrant, magical and colourful way possible for fans of all ages.

“As we expand this wonderful world with friends both old and new, alongside so many brilliant musical guests, this iconic pop cultural phenomenon will undoubtedly uplift a whole new generation.”
