Keshet International braces for Belgian thriller series Storm Lara

Storm Lara debuted in Belgium last summer

Keshet International (KI) has acquired distribution rights to Flemish drama Storm Lara, the first scripted project commissioned by Belgian streamer Streamz.

KI will officially launch the 4×30′ thriller, produced by A Private View, at next month’s Berlin Series Market, alongside season three of KI’s Kfulim (False Flag).

Storm Lara unfolds in real time during a two-hour radio call-in show when a suicidal woman calls and a gruelling game of cat and mouse unfolds.

Created and written by Daan Gielis, the series stars Ella Leyers, Wouter Hendrickx and Anemone Valcke. It premiered across Belgium on Streamz in August last year and became the most watched show on the streaming platform.

KI’s slate of international dramas includes The Kidnapping of Phil Frisco, When Heroes Fly, Journey, Furia and Pørni. The company is expected to announce further international scripted acquisitions as part of its next virtual preview event for buyers this March.

Anke Stoll, KI’s VP of acquisitions and coproductions, said: “This is a tense and captivating thriller about lust, jealousy, guilt and shame – that dangerous cocktail of emotions that arises from adultery and lies.”
