Kercher doc on C5 true crime slate

ViacomCBS-owned UK terrestrial Channel 5 has revealed a slate of true crime programmes, including a series about the murder of student Meredith Kercher in Italy.

Who Killed Meredith? (3×60’), produced by Turquoise TV, will tell the story of Kercher’s murder in 2007 and the media circus that surrounded it.

Meanwhile, National Treasure, National Disgrace (working title) is a 3×60’ series from ITN Productions that examines the crimes and committed by British celebrities including Rolf Harris, Jimmy Savile, Gary Glitter and Stuart Hall.

Also from ITN Productions, The Tragedy of Lesley Whittle (w/t) is a 2×60’ show about the kidnapping and murder of 17-year-old heiress Lesley Whittle, who was killed by Donald Neilson, the man known as the Black Panther, in the 1970s.

Finally, The Missing Files: Milly Dowler & Levi Bellfield (2×90’, w/t), produced by ACME, will take a detailed look at the 2002 investigation into the murder of Surrey teenager Milly Dowler, with the second episode focusing on Dowler’s murderer and serial killer Levi Bellfield.

The new titles join previously announced series The Disappearance of Shannon Matthews, a three-parter from ITN Productions, on the slate.
