Kabo, Newen agree to Break-Up

The Break-Up has already been picked up in the US, Canada, the UK and South America

French distributor Kabo International has picked up global distribution rights to social experiment format The Break-Up from local production giant Newen.

The Break-Up has already been picked up by Phil Gurin, president of unscripted and alternative at Global Road Entertainment for the US, English-speaking Canada, the UK and South America, and Kabo has now secured distribution rights for the rest of the world.

The Break-Up is an hour-long primetime show which aims to help real-life couples solve problems in their relationships based on proven therapy methods.

In order to save their love, the couples in question simulate a break-up, split their belongings, sign a divorce contract, and take off their wedding rings as part of the onscreen process.

“The demand for social experiment formats is very strong. As such, The Break-Up is perfect for buyers looking for a well-constructed, insightful and emotional format in this space,” said Arabelle Pouliot-Di Crescenzo, MD of Kabo International.

“Through a shocking yet true experiment, The Break-Up wants above all else to fix couples still connected by a small spark of love,” says Fanchon Giorda, director of development, Newen.
