Kabo explores futuristic formats

Game/talkshow hybrid format Tilt received an update

Game/talkshow hybrid format Tilt was updated by TV6

French distributor Kabo International has agreed to represent high-tech formats from a Finnish interactive entertainment outfit set up by the co-founder of Nice Entertainment.

Kabo will represent three of Reflect’s formats, including game/talkshow Tilt, which airs in Finland on TV6 and received a futuristic update last year after nearly two decades on air.

The format sees millennial celebrities challenge each other in virtual reality (VR) games and Reflect claims it is the first TV show to feature VR and mixed reality production techniques in broadcast TV.

Reflect is co-managed by Antti Seppänen, CEO of crossmedia outfit Intervisio, and Juha Ponteva, previously CEO of Finnish production group Moskito and co-founder of production group Nice Entertainment.

The company was recently formed by the duo, who see the outfit as a “development operation” whilst they manage their separate production ventures.

Other formats Kabo will now represent worldwide following the deal include factual social experiment show Together, which follows real-life couples as they attempt to improve and save their relationship using a mobile app.

The app tracks their progress and creates tasks for couples to perform, while viewers at home are also able to use the app.

High Score, meanwhile, is described as an “eSports decathlon” in which contestants battle it out in games and challenges ranging from quizzes and party games to VR experiences.

“As the TV landscape continues to evolve in line with viewer demands, VR and interactive entertainment are taking centre stage. Reflect as a company is one step ahead of the game and the technologies they use give audiences a truly immersive experience,” said Arabelle Pouliot Di-Crescenzo, MD of Kabo International.

Ponteva added: “While TV will not disappear, technology innovation will blur the lines between different forms of entertainment at an increasing speed.”
