Kaap Holland launches production company with local comedy star Flip van der Kuil

Dutch comedian Flip van der Kuil and producer Maarten Swart of local prodco Kaap Holland have joined forces to start a production company.

Dead Duck Productions will be a subsidiary of Kaap Holland. It will produce comedy series and feature films targeting Dutch and international audiences.

One such project currently in production is Downtown, a web series in collaboration with Netherlands pubcaster Bnnvara for NPO3.nl, the streaming platform from fellow pubcaster NPO3.

The new company builds on 10 years of collaboration between van der Kuil and Kaap, which has borne films like New Kids Turbo, Bros Before Hos and Low-budget Stuntman. Van der Kuil is best known for creating the series New Kids, which began in 2007.

Van der Kuil said: “With Dead Duck Productions, we will create original and uncompromising comedy series and films, together with various comedy creators. We develop and produce projects with an absurd and abrasive humour that we think is exactly what is called for in these times.”
