Joyn takes three from Beta

The Pier comes from Spain’s Álex Pina

Joyn, ProSiebenSat.1 Group’s joint-venture OTT service with Discovery, has acquired a number of international drama series from distributor Beta Film.

The streamer has picked up Álex Pina’s Spanish series The Pier (8×60’), Nordic noir thriller Hassel (10×60’) and Russian drama Trigger (15×60’).

The Pier is a Movistar+ thriller starring Money Heist lead Álvaro Morte. It was created by Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato and produced by Movistar+ in collaboration with Atresmedia Studios and Vancouver Media.

The show has been sold into almost 100 territories to date, with buyers including Italy’s Rai, Austria’s ORF, HBO Baltics, SBS Australia, TOU.TV Extra in Canada and MBC in the Middle East, according to Beta.

Swedish crime series Hassel, from Nice Drama in coproduction with Viaplay, Beta Film and Lunanime, has also been acquired by MVS Net for Latin America, Canal+ in Poland and pubcaster Czech TV.

Trigger was made by Moscow-based prodco Sreda for Russia’s Channel One. Beta describes it as “one of the most successful and internationally bestselling Russian series ever.”
