Veteran JC Acosta exits US studio Paramount ‘with immediate effect’

JC Acosta has been at Paramount for the past 15 years

Paramount veteran JC Acosta is leaving “with immediate effect,” after 15 years at the US-based company that he joined when it was still called MTV Networks Latin America.

The news was confirmed to C21’s Spanish-language sister site Cveintiuno by a Paramount spokesperson, who could not confirm who would be taking Acosta’s place. His departure is due to a transition to a brand “with more global leadership,” the spokesperson said.

“As part of a transition from Paramount’s international markets to a more global brand leadership, JC Acosta will be leaving the company, effective immediately,” the Paramount rep explained.

“JC’s contribution has been instrumental in launching Paramount+ in Latin America, acquiring Chilevisión and TeleColombia, and leading the production business, which included thousands of hours of premium content developed in more than a dozen studios around the world. We are incredibly grateful for his leadership, his mentorship of so many, and his unwavering dedication to growing our international business,” he added.

During Acosta’s time at the US studio he experienced numerous transitions from MTV Networks to Viacom, ViacomCBS and finally Paramount. In his 15 years, Acosta has served as chief financial officer, chief operating officer and is currently serving as president of Viacom International Studios and president of streaming & networks for Southern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.
