The announcement was made by Luis Fernández, president of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, to whom Pons will report.

Javier Pons joined NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises a year ago as executive vice president of Telemundo Studios.

His responsibilities will now include overseeing the network’s entertainment division, in addition to leading the development and production of fiction content at Telemundo Studios.

“Since joining Telemundo, Javier has delivered excellent results and solidified Telemundo Studios’ position for the future. I’m excited to see him apply his extensive experience in production and media management to his new role,” said Fernández.

“Javier is a highly experienced media executive, and I am confident he will continue to excel in this new leadership role, bringing his expertise and creativity to our entertainment division while continuing to oversee our studios,” he added.

Pons has more than three decades of experience in production and management at major media companies in the US, Spain, France, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, and Argentina, including Prisa Radio, Televisión Española, and Grupo KISS Media.

He has also been a consultant and producer at On Demand Consulting and an executive producer at TV Azteca.

Prior to joining Telemundo, he served as CEO of Globomedia, one of Spain’s leading production companies, and as director of television at The Mediapro Studio.

In these positions, he led the creation and production of titles such as Nasdrovia (Movistar Plus+), Mano de Hierro (Netflix) and El Internado: Las Cumbres (Amazon).

“It’s a privilege to expand my role to oversee Telemundo’s award-winning entertainment division. I appreciate the opportunity to join a team of professionals who have redefined Hispanic entertainment,” said Pons.

“I look forward to working together in Studios and Entertainment to continue developing and producing the most innovative, contemporary, and engaging content in Spanish-language media,” he added.
