Japan’s TBS inks Turkish remake deals for Forget Love, Tower of Sand

Forget Love is a romantic drama written by Yukari Tatsui

MIPCOM: Tokyo Broadcasting System Television (TBS) has signed remake option agreements with Turkish production company Fabrika Yapim for two of its popular series, Forget Love and Tower of Sand.

The deal, brokered by Hece Medya, represents a key move for TBS as it enters the Turkish market, known for its strong demand for long-running scripted dramas.

Forget Love, a romantic drama directed by Yukihiko Tsutsumi and written by Yukari Tatsui, tells the story of a cold-hearted man and a blind woman who has emotionally shut down due to her fraught relationship with her father.

The show resonated strongly with Japanese audiences and has already been remade in South Korea. This is the second option contract for Forget Love in Turkey, raising anticipation for a Turkish adaptation by Fabrika Yapim.

Meanwhile, Tower of Sand is a suspenseful drama that follows a housewife who moves into a high-rise apartment dominated by celebrities, where she is watched by a mysterious neighbor and becomes entangled in a series of infant disappearances. The screenplay is by Natsuko Ikeda.

Fabrika Yapim, founded in 2015 and led by CEO Öner Arslanel, is known for producing dramas that resonate with Turkish audiences. Arslanel commented: “These female-driven narratives will deeply connect with Turkish viewers, and we are excited to bring more inspiring stories to audiences in the near future.”

Jun Fukai, general manager of global business development at TBS, added: “We eagerly anticipate the Turkish adaptations of TBS’s popular series and are excited to see how they will resonate with local audiences.”

Ceren Ergenekon, managing partner at Hece Medya, said: “TBS’s expertly crafted narratives, combined with Fabrika Yapim’s unique storytelling approach, create an ideal collaboration for both Turkish and international audiences.”
