Japan’s Nippon TV shops dramady series and gameshow internationally

Japanese entertainment company Nippon TV is launching a scripted series and an entertainment format on the international market as part of its autumn slate following their debut on the company’s domestic channel.

Elimination gameshow Money Or Junk sends contestants to far-flung locations to create value out of seemingly worthless items. Episodes will range from 60 minutes to 105 depending on the stage of the competition.

Comedy drama series Life’s Punchline

Life’s Punchline, meanwhile, is a 10-part dramedy series about three comedians who give up on their careers due to their troupe’s lack of success. Through their unfunny skits, they find common ground with two sisters who have also recently had to give up on their dreams.

Nippon is expected to announce other scripted formats for this year and 2022 soon. One project is known to be a crime drama series coming out of its partnership with London’s Envision Entertainment, which was announced in July.
