Jamie Foxx agrees first-look TV deal with Fox Entertainment Studios for scripted, unscripted projects

Jamie Foxx hosts Beat Shazam for Fox

US actor and comedian Jamie Foxx has signed a first-look deal with Fox Entertainment Studios (FES) covering both scripted and unscripted projects.

Under the multi-year deal, FES will get the first look at scripted comedies, dramas and animated titles from the Hollywood star and his production banner Foxxhole Productions. Foxx will create and executive produce those projects.

In addition, the deal gives FES exclusive rights to Foxx’s projects and producing services in unscripted.

The companies said a slate of content is already in the works, with the Foxxhole team set to begin developing projects immediately.

The deal builds on the existing relationship between the two parties, which sees Foxx hosting Fox gameshow Beat Shazam and executive producing police procedural Alert: Missing Persons Unit.

Earlier in his career, Foxx appeared in comedy series In Living Color, which ran on Fox network from 1991 to 1994, and also fronted the sitcom The Jamie Foxx Show, which aired for five seasons on The WB from 1996 to 2001.

Fernando Szew, president and head of FES, called Foxx a “renowned multifaceted talent” and said the US-based studio wants to “support his tremendous creativity with access to the full scope of our genres, formats and brands.”
