Fremantle’s former CEO for Southern Europe and Israel, Jaime Ondarza, has resurfaced as interim CEO of Mediawan-owned Spanish production company Boomerang TV.

Ondarza, who left Fremantle last year, will also serve as advisor to Elisabeth d’Arvieu, CEO of Mediawan Pictures.

Since parting ways with Fremantle, where he fell victim to a digital scam worth almost €1m (US$1.1m), Ondarza has worked as a consultant and independent producer. He is also currently a professor at Luiss University in Rome.

Reporting to d’Arvieu and working alongside Mónica Galer, president of Mediawan’s activities in Spain, Ondarza’s appointment at Boomerang TV comes after its previous CEO, Jorge Pezzi, left to join Movistar Plus+.

Ondarza has more than 26 years of experience in the industry as an international media and entertainment executive.

As well as being CEO for Southern Europe and Israel at Fremantle, he has also served as executive VP and CEO of Paramount for Southern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, as well as senior VP and general manager of WarnerMedia for Southern Europe and Africa, and CEO of Boing, the joint venture between Mediaset and WarnerMedia.

Before joining the television industry, he worked at advertising agencies such as Pirella-Gottsche-Lowe, Saatchi & Saatchi and Young & Rubicam.

Boomerang TV became part of France’s Mediawan Group, one of the largest production and distribution companies in Europe, in November 2020, where it sits alongside fellow Spanish prodcos Good Mood, Weekend Studio and Veranda TV.
