Netflix executive Tatiana Hernáiz is joining Spanish production company iZen to oversee sales, acquisitions and international coproductions in both fiction and entertainment.

Hernáiz had worked at Netflix since 2021 as manager of licensed series and coproductions for EMEA, based in the Netherlands.

Her appointment as director of international business and coproductions is part of iZen’s international expansion strategy, following the El Cid producer’s purchase by France’s Newen Studios in 2021.

At C21’s Content Americas event in January it joined Latin American production company NonStop to launch new company Cacao&Cía, which focuses on coproductions between Spain and Lat Am.

Based in Madrid, Hernáiz will also be linked to Cacao&Cía, which is led by Colombian exec Pedro Dávila.

“iZen is at a time of growth that makes it necessary to incorporate new professionals to help us boost the business and take advantage of opportunities,” said Sara Fernández-Velasco, CEO of iZen.

With more than 10 years of experience in the distribution and sales of international content behind her, Hernáiz has extensive knowledge of TV markets in Europe and the sale of formats in Europe, Lat Am, the Middle East and China.

“We are lucky to add a great professional like Tatiana to the team, who has trained in other countries and provides us with new fundamental visions in a context in which everything evolves very quickly in our sector, and where the importance of working with new business models is increasingly important”, added the CEO.

Hernáiz joins a management team led by Jose Velasco and Sara Fernández-Velasco.

From 2013 until joining Netflix, Hernáiz worked for companies including All3Media, Passion Distribution and Banijay Rights, on internationally successful formats like reality shows Kitchen Nightmares (Fox, BBC America) and Undercover Boss (CBS), and the fiction shows Lies (Atresmedia) and Non Lie (Mediaset).

Grupo iZen includes production companies Zebra Producciones, BocaBoca, EuroTV Producciones, Hill Valley, Proima Zebrastur, IndaloYMedia, CAPA España and Newco. In addition to Cacao&Cía in Latin America, iZen’s international footprint includes partnerships with Imagic in the Middle East and UK production companies Chalkboard TV, Storyboard Studios and Clapperboard.
