ITVX, Stan among raft of international buyers for Orphan Black sequel series

Krysten Ritter as Lucy in sci-fi series Orphan Black: Echoes

UK streamer ITVX and Australian streamer Stan are among a raft of new buyers of Orphan Black: Echoes, the sequel series to popular Canadian sci-fi series, Orphan Black.

In addition to Stan and ITVX, the 10-part series has also been acquired by TVNZ (New Zealand), NPO (Netherlands), OCS (France), PCCW Media Entertainment (Hong Kong SAR and Macau) and NBCU’s Syfy for several territories including Spain, Portugal, various African territories, Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina and Croatia.

Set in the near future, the series stars Krysten Ritter and Keeley Hawes and follows a group of women as they weave their way into each others’ lives and embark on a thrilling journey, unravelling the mystery of their identity and uncovering a wrenching story of love and betrayal.

The project, commissioned by AMC Networks last year is produced and distributed by Boat Rocker and created by Anna Fishko (Pieces of Her, The Society), who also serves as showrunner, writer and executive producer. John Fawcett, who co-created the original series, is director and executive producer.

The original version of Orphan Black aired for five seasons from 2013 to 2017 on CTV Sci-Fi (formerly Space) in Canada and BBC America in the US.

A premiere date in the US has not yet been confirmed for the sequel, but ITVX said the show will debut as an exclusive in the “coming months.”

Jon Rutherford, president of global rights, franchise and content strategy at Boat Rocker Studios, said: “We’re delighted with the strong response from global buyers for Orphan Black: Echoes.

“We’re fortunate to be offering buyers a well-established Orphan Black universe that has built-in familiarity with viewers.”
