ITVX launch month delivers 55% year-on-year increase in streaming hours

UK commercial broadcaster ITV’s streaming platform ITVX delivered a 55% year-on-year increase in ITV’s streaming hours in the first month following its launch.

ITV said in a statement that during the first month, from December 8, 2022 to January 7, 2023, ITV’s online users rose by 65% compared to the same period a year earlier.

The company put this down to the latter stages of the World Cup, while noting that ITVX’s new exclusive content “also performed strongly.”

Carolyn McCall, ITV’s CEO, said: “It is great to see so many new viewers coming to ITVX. The football World Cup has been an important part of that. Excluding the football, our underlying streaming viewing during the month was up 29% year-on-year and we continue to see strong year-on-year growth in January.

“Away from live streaming, viewers have welcomed our strong slate of commissioned launch titles exclusive to ITVX, with many viewers coming from harder-to-reach audiences.”
