ITVX investigates being Born From the Same Stranger with first factual format order

UK commercial broadcaster ITV’s new streaming service ITVX has made its first factual format commission with the series Born From the Same Stranger.

Produced by Wall to Wall Media, the Warner Bros Discovery-owned prodco that makes ITV’s Long Lost Family, the show aims to trace the hidden relatives of people born from the same donor, who might have multiple siblings they had no idea existed.

The four-part series comes as a change to UK law takes effect this year, which will see donor anonymity disappear. Anyone conceived by donation after 2005 will be able to apply to find out details about their identity as soon as they turn 18.

Sally Benton exec produces for Wall to Wall, with Rachel Ozers series producing.

The show was commissioned for ITVX by Jo Clinton-Davis, ITV’s controller of factual, who said it “could not be more timely coming at a moment when new laws open up the prospect for many more donor-born people to find out more about their identities.”

In related news, ITV has reportedly axed video clip entertainment format You’ve Been Framed after 33 years. The show, which first aired in 1990, sees viewers send in videos of funny moments caught on camera for a £250 (US$300) cash reward.
