ITVS’s Shiver hires Vice, BBC alum

ITV Studios-owned factual label Shiver has appointed a former BBC executive as creative director at its north of England division.

Ceri Aston

Ceri Aston has joined Shiver North in the newly created role to boost Shiver’s production output from its northern base.

Aston will work with group creative director Ana De Moraes to add to the 60 hours of TV Shiver produces each year, which includes returning titles Gino’s Italian Escape and 63 Up! for ITV, and new UKTV commission David Jason: Planes, Trains & Automobiles.

Prior to joining, Aston was head of non-scripted programmes for Vice-backed Pulse Films, where she exec produced the studio’s non-scripted output, overseeing funded development of projects for UK broadcasters and helping expand Pulse’s overseas programming.

She also held a variety of roles at the BBC, including executive producer for BBC Entertainment North and head of development for its religion and ethics department.

Her arrival is the latest in a string of new hires under new Shiver MD Tim Carter, following last month’s appointment of Simone Haywood as head of factual entertainment and the arrival of Aiden Hansell as head of development.
