ITV in drama presales spree

MIPCOM: ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVSGE) has notched up multi-territory presales for three of its drama series.

Mr Selfridge, Falcón and Endeavour have been sold to buyers across Latin America, Scandinavia, Europe and Israel.

Growing competition means “broadcasters are always looking to acquire high-end drama as soon as possible,” said Tobi de Graaff, director of global television distribution for ITVSGE. The presales, he added, “demonstrate that we are the destination to meet this growing demand.”

Period department store drama Mr Selfridge (1×90’/9×60’), made by ITV Studios for ITV1, has been pre-sold to Ireland’s TV3, Norwegian pubcaster NRK and Finnish pubcaster YLE. This adds to earlier presales for the drama to Masterpiece on PBS in the US, Australia’s Seven Network, Swedish pubcaster SVT and Israel’s YES DBS Satellite Services.

Falcón (4×60’), the European crime drama adapted from the novels by Robert Wilson, is made by Mammoth Screen for Sky Atlantic in coproduction with Canal+ Spain and Germany’s ZDF. Presales include HBO Latin America, SVT in Sweden and Hot Israel, following an earlier presale to BBC Worldwide Channels in Australia at MipTV.

Finally, Inspector Morse prequel Endeavour (4×120’), made by Mammoth Screen, went to Pramer’s Film & Arts channel in Latin America; European pubcasters including SVT in Sweden, NRK in Norway and Denmark’s DR; Croatia’s HRT and Lithuania’s LRT. These follow earlier sales to Belgium’s VRT and Dutch pubcaster NPO, as well as the US’s WGBH, Seven and TVNZ in New Zealand.
