ITVSGE hires Silver Reel exec for acquisitions

ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVSGE) has bolstered its acquisitions team by appointing a former MTG and Silver Reel Partners exec to work across its scripted offering.

Bea Hegedus joins as VP of global content, scripted, where she will work across the UK-based distributor’s range of international producers and clients.

Hegedus joins from Silver Reel Partners where she was head of television, leading the company’s scripted development and financing efforts. Prior to that she has worked for companies including Pinewood Pictures, MTG and Fox TV Studios.

She also launched and was MD of Lionsgate’s UK sales subsidiary Debmar-Mercury International. In her new role she reports to Kate Barnes, ITVSGE’s senior VP of global content, scripted and coproductions.

Julie Meldal-Johnsen, exec VP of global content at ITVSGE, said Hedegus “has a vast wealth of international experience. We want to continue to widen our catalogue and ensure we are offering our clients the very best drama from across the globe – and Bea’s arrival will help us to achieve this.”

Hegedus said: “Having observed the company grow its international slate over the past couple of years, I’m now really looking forward to playing my part in furthering this global reach.”

ITVSGE has a catalogue of over 40,000 hours across a range of genres, with at least 15 of its scripted programmes having been sold into more than 100 countries. Its recent spring drama slate was headed by period drama Vanity Fair.

Earlier this year the distributor appointed former PBS executive Mike Kelley as its senior VP of sales for the Americas, reporting to Greg Johnson, executive VP of EMEA and the Americas, who took up his role last year, as reported first by C21.
