ITV ups films and kids exec Darren Nartey to head acquisitions after Breslau exits

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has promoted senior acquisitions manager for films and kids Darren Nartey to lead the ITV content acquisitions team.

Darren Nartey

Nartey will step up to the role of head of acquisitions this week, following Sasha Breslau’s departure,  reporting to Craig Morris, director of channels, ITVX and acquisitions.

Breslau was hired by Warner Bros Discovery as VP of content acquisitions for HBO Max in the UK and Ireland.

Nartey is a seasoned member of the content acquisition team at ITV, overseeing the sourcing, negotiating and acquisition of films, series and children’s content, across both linear and streaming platforms.

He played an integral role in the successful launch of ITVX, curating a line-up of series, film and kids’ content. Darren has also been instrumental in securing acquisitions including the Oscars, the James Bond, Harry Potter and Indiana Jones film libraries.

Darren joined ITV as an acquisitions exec for series in 2015. Before joining ITV, he held acquisitions roles at Channel 5.

Morris said: “For many years we have benefitted from Darren’s brilliant people skills, editorial nous and innovative deal-making abilities. I’m very excited to now be working more closely with him as he steps up to lead the team and help us evolve ITV’s acquisitions strategy. Acquired content has always played an important role across our family of channels and has now become a crucial part of ITVX’s growth too.”
