ITV raises curtain on All Star Musicals

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has ordered a show that will feature celebrities performing songs from well-known musicals.

Freddie Flintoff

All Star Musicals will be produced by ITV Studios label Shiver and feature celebs as they train with some of the most seasoned performers in London’s West End to learn their chosen song.

They will then debut their number, supported by a chorus line, to an audience at the London Palladium. Musical star Michael Crawford will offer advice while former cricketer Freddie Flintoff will present. Flintoff is set to make his musical debut in Fat Friends later this year.

All Star Musicals was commissioned by ITV’s head of entertainment commissioning Siobhan Greene and will be executive produced by Fiona Clark and Richard Hastings. Iona Mackenzie produces.

It’s been a busy couple of months for Shiver, with ITV ordering a show that will give veteran celebrities a chance to perform in Las Vegas in June. Shiver is also behind ITV’s four-part consumer series Eat, Shop, Save, which advises viewers how to save money on their weekly shop.

Last month Shiver appointed the CEO of Warner Bros-owned Twenty Twenty Television to succeed Alexander Gardiner.

Tim Carter will join the firm as MD next year, once a successor has taken over his role at Twenty Twenty. The appointment comes after Gardiner, Shiver’s MD and an exec with ITV Studios for the past 22 years, announced his departure earlier this year.

Shiver has offices in London, Manchester and Leeds and produces ITV shows such as Come Dine With Me and talkshow Peston on Sunday.
