ITV orders Blink Films twins doc

Extraordinary Twins looks at the tough decisions facing the Torres family

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has commissioned a two-part documentary about conjoined twins from factual prodco Blink Films.

Extraordinary Twins meets three-year-old Idaho sisters Callie and Carter Torres, who are joined from the chest down, and their parents, as they face the impossible decision of whether to leave the girls together or risk putting them through hugely complex surgery to separate them.

The 2×60’ doc is executive produced by Dan Chambers, with ITV Studios handling international rights.

Chambers, executive producer and creative director at Blink Films, said: “Extraordinary Twins is an emotional journey as two parents weigh up the most difficult decision of their lives, but it’s also an uplifting one as we meet twins and their families who share the same story with different outcomes. And the series is an eye-opening testament to the brilliant surgeons, without whose skill and incredible commitment, these journeys and stories would be impossible.”

In other Blink Films news, UK pubcaster Channel 4 has ordered fast-turnaround feature doc The Diana Interview: The Truth Behind The Scandal (1×60’).

The film sees the documentary team whose work led to the setting up of the inquiry into the BBC’s explosive 1995 interview with Princess Diana return to take an exclusive look at the latest revelations.
