ITV hosts Queen, David Attenborough doc

The Queen’s Canopy sees the monarch in conversation with Sir David Attenborough 

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has commissioned a one-off environmental documentary from ITN Productions, featuring the Queen and Sir David Attenborough.

The Queen’s Canopy (working title), will be exec produced by Chris Shaw, ITN Productions’ editorial director, and directed by Jane Treays. It was commissioned for ITV by head of factual entertainment Sue Murphy and controller of factual Jo Clinton Davis.

The documentary will chart the progress of the Queen’s initiative to create a global network of protected forests – The Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy – a conservation project to raise awareness of indigenous forests’ value and encouraage their preservation for future generations.

The show will see Sir David Attenborough hold an informal conversation with the Queen, filmed in the grounds of Buckingham Palace.

It follows on from ITN Productions’ recent royals-focused show Prince Harry & Meghan: Truly, Madly, Deeply, which is being shopped internationally by distributor Orange Smarty.
