ITV detects Mammoth crime drama

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has commissioned a detective drama from ITV Studios-owned Mammoth Screen.

Polly Hill

Invisible stars Jason Watkins (The Crown, W1A) and Tala Gouveia (Cold Feet), with each feature-length episode focusing on a new mystery.

Greenlit by ITV head of drama Polly Hill, the show has is written by creator Robert Murphy (DCI Banks). It is set in the UK city of Bath and pairs Gouveia’s DCI McDonald with Watkins’ shy, modest DS Dodds.

While McDonald has transferred from South London to leap up the career ladder, Dodds has happily remained on the shelf for most of his working life.

Invisible will see the duo investigate cases including a greed-fuelled murder in the upper echelons of Bath society and an unexplained death in a private hospital for recovering addicts.

It will be executive produced by Murphy alongside Mammoth pair Preethi Mavahalli and Damien Timmer, and filmed on location in the West Country.

Richard Senior (Poldark, Humans, Doctor Who) will direct the first feature-length episode. ITV drama commissioner Huw Kennair Jones will oversee production for the channel, with ITV Studios Global Entertainment handling international distribution.
